Hiya
Had my first play with pixie dust today. Used green pixie dust over a transparent green base. Heated bead until glowing, rolled it in the Pixie Dust, got nice sparkly effect. Popped beads into kiln.
Took beads out of kiln... all pixie dust just washed off completely - now just have bald beads! (Not the end of the world as I will etch them instead).
I read on here that pixie dust doesn't like the heat, so I simply rolled bead in the pixie dust and then went into the kiln. Should I have attempted to melt it in a bit or what?
Thanks
Helen
the bead will have to be quite hot and 'sticky' for the pd to stick.
Once you've rolled it in the dust, heat it again, very gently, then tap off the excess, the re-heat and re-roll.
I know some people wipe off the excess with a wet paper towel ( I've never had the guts to try it, yet) the re-heat and re-roll.
It's just a trial and error thing, really - some pd's are better encased.

Helen I dip then reheat to a light glow then anneal. Always works without problems. X
