Oh no, teaching this weekend all weekend and my kiln's gone wonky!!! I put it on this morning and then went out a while ago to discover error message 5, loud beeping and the temperature at 615 degrees. I have emailed Lee but wondered if anyone had solved this on their own? Last time my kiln went wonky it had to have a new controller unit.

Hi Kaz, I'll reply here rather than e-mail then it is there for later information for others.
Since the KCR has been around they have been really reliable but for some reason we have had just the odd sporadic case as you mention. We traced the problem to a faulty resistor and it was only on the odd KCR1 also.
Now get this, it is possible that you had a faulty resistor KCR1 swapped with another faulty resistor KCR1. Big odds against I know but that seems to be the case to me. 12-14 months ago was when it came to light.
Fear not, you will have a brand new KCR1 with you tomorrow complete with reliable resistor ;).
PM me your delivery address and and special instructions and it shall be done.
If you can, send me the old one back and I'll Paypal you the postage if you like.
Cheers,
Lee
What amazing customer service Lee. This is clearly why you have so many fans on here!
Blimey, now THAT is customer service, well done Kilncare.
Fab service I agree, this dumdum here is so scared of her beadcube i switch on and my fingers turn to big fat sausages and press the wrong buttons and change programme details, and Lee got me right back on track ;D ;D
Stop it, I'll be blushing next :P
Kaz, your controller has left with Fed Ex for tomorrow delivery. I have put in the additional programming you had before so it is a straight swap.
Don't worry about sending the old one back, we have an engineer in Cheadle Hulme next week so we will arrange to collect the offending bugger!! ;D
Swoon!!!
You're my hero!!!
Thanks so much
Kazx

Please don't - you'd clash with the Maxine . . ..
What fabulous service! :)
And there we go....less than 24 hours after emailing Lee about my problem and I have just plugged in the replacement controller!!!
Not many companies whose customer service could match up to this!
Thanks again Lee and a sigh of relief for those who are coming over to me this weekend!
Kazx
Hurrah !!!!
;D As always.....my pleasure.
Have a good weekend pal.
...and Sir Lee gallops off on his charger into the sunset... ;D
And just to update! Unfortunately the new controller did not resolve the issue but Lee phoned me first thing this morning. We jointly diagnosed the problem and a new thermocouple is winging its way to me now. Fortunately, I was able to use the new controller with the bead cube so we kinda managed over the weekend ;D But yet another vote of confidence for Kilncare :)
