Just wondering if anyone has one, opinions etc. On my investment list. JkC
I had to look this up as I didn't know what you were on about. So for others http://frittsartglass.com/marbles/molds/index.html
I saw this a few weeks ago and wondered about it. I think it was Brad Pearson that was using it to just shape up again after enameling etc. Like a large marble mold with a handle - but pricey!
I think Glenn has one. I've never used one, but would certainly recommend a marble mould of some sort, and the hand held ones, while they can be heavy, do mean you can get closer to the glass while it is molten. Although, with marbles, I usually let them set up just a touch anyway before rolling.
I did read recently that the moulds with the bumpy rim thingies round the top (not like this one, but with sort-of raised doughnuts round the edge) are really not good for marbles.
I have to say that a better marble mould is on my wishlist too, but I will probably go with one from that lot on ebay - http://stores.ebay.co.uk/WeaverInd/Marble-Molds-/_i.html?_fsub=3&_sid=285394105&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322 (http://stores.ebay.co.uk/WeaverInd/Marble-Molds-/_i.html?_fsub=3&_sid=285394105&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322)
(Glenn might be able to tell you more about them, too ;) :D :D)
Invinite rim marble molds are the bomb there awesome
i use them for years now ;D they have a titanium handle
so there not heavy at all ;)
Yes, yes, yes and yes! The only word of caution is sometimes they miss dents that are fairly gentle, whereas the traditional marble mould doesn't. However I certainly notice it speeds up making them, I tend to use both together now. The infinate one for rough shaping, my old marble mould for rounding (not always, depends on the marble), then the infinate one for finishing off. Sizewise I'd get the small multi-one, does most sizes you'll need unless you are trying to make really huge marbles.
Thanks for the replies, I will keep it on my most wanted list then.
