Hi darlins,
Has anyone tried these? I bought some and they came very quickly but they just seem to snot up my beads! They are compatible with Effetre, CIM and Reich (all tested good yesterday) but I lose the sparkle whether I work high or low in the flame or hot or cold. I like the dichro mini bead things cos they are pretty but on a clear base and encased in clear without melting them in at all they just look like white snowflakes!
I had the same problem with the dichro I got from them. I did see a thread somewhere else (maybe LE) saying much the same. If someone out there has the answer I would be really glad to hear it.
The only dichro I liked were the bullseye stringers. :-\
I have too read on a forum somewhere that the quality of this stuff just inst good enough to survive the heat and turns to grey/white soot.
sounds like they do the same as the dchro on foil which i have found really difficult to get any results with
I don't think anyone's got anything out of the mini beads. Unless you want to stuff a hollow with them? I think the massive Devardi thread on LE in Tips & Techniques had some people having some success with the rest of the dichro, but a lot of people didn't.
Ages ago I bought 2 dfferent 'luster' frits from Devardi - very irregular frit, and they seemed to be dirty/dusty .I seem to remember that I tried them out and was distinctly underwhelmed, so never used them.... oh, and one of them had bits of red glass in it... in a goldstone frit !!!!
I once managed to get some of the dichro strips to twist around a barrell bead and got it encased. Its somewhere in the fugly tub as I never bothered to try and more! I use the dichro microdot fritty type things quite a bit and have had great success with them providing they don't have to go back inot the flame after you've got them on. I have some very unimpressive peach devardi glass that can hardly cope with going within 3 foot of a flame and it devits in a nanosecond if you get it there. And woe betide you if you even dare whisper the word "encase". All in all they look like they should have nice and interesting glass but ultimately there are better, simpler and more successful options out there IMHO.
However I can't bring myself to throw glass away so inevitably I will persist...slowly....or I shall leave it on my shelf until it qualifies to go in the "rare" glass section!!!!!!
Stuffing it into hollows is a great idea. The only thing I can think of is..erm.....how do I describe this....heat a big blob of clear and moosh it down onto the dichro things then heat another blob of clear and moosh it down onto the mooshed blob with the dichro things.
Um....not sure where to go from there.........thick stringer? Might protect them from the heat a bit more.
The clear bead I made with the little fritty nobbles was slightly glowing to pick up the little buggers then encased, keeping it completely out of the flame and still looks like white ash. Quite pretty round dots of ash but ash none the less!
::)
Well then, already you have something completely unique, ash beads!!
Maybe I should start taking it out of the fire place!
Ooo Ooo............famous dead people beads?
Who's to know if its Elvis in those beads or just the last of the pork chops that you lobbed on the fire ;)
lmao! My eldest is playing Elvis in his Christmas play next week! Random much!!!
So listen, I don't want any credit here but if you do make your millions just give me a nod when you whizz by in your sporty car will ya ;)
It will be my helicopter dahling!!! ;D
Flaming adas, you'll knock me flat in the down draught :o
