Please could somebody help me identify this blue?
It looks opaque but is actually transparent... I have used it for the flowers on these beads
???
hmmmm......

It reminds me of bullseye cyan opal ........
I have a bullseye supplier quite local to me, will investigate...
Though the other glass I used is effetre and I have used the blue as a core as well as for decoration and there have been no cracks
In Feb I took a beginners class with Di East and this is an odd rod I pulled out from the batch I took home. I assumed that it was all Effetre as there is some pea green and periwinkle in there too.
Perhaps I could get in touch just to see if she would know, it has been a long time but perhaps Di has a regular 'kit' of glass she puts together for these classes
Yikes - if it was from Di's it could be anything! It's not Effetre - It looks to me like this is an alabaster of some sort and the fact that is is sort of transparent makes me suspect that it's a Vetrofond. It won't be a Bullseye, not if you found it out for general use as Bullseye is a different coe.
Yep - I reckon it's Vetrofond - if it's from your batch that you got at the class it will be. Give Di a ring - she'll know.
It's a pretty blue! :)
Ahhhh yes thanks Sal, have just been on a couple of Vetro stockists (all out of UK, sigh...)
I'm almost positive it's Dark Intense Blue
Fanks V much!
ahhhhhhhhhhhh!
It also looks rather like some Lauscha Turquoise (http://www.theglassshoppestudio.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.pbv.v3.tpl&product_id=115&category_id=4&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=15) I've got. It's a slightly translucent rod in a gorgeous turquoise blue, and the batch I've got has subtle circular banding through it if you look at the cut end of the rod. It also does that slight white banding around the melted end, and gives that lovely strong blue when worked (even in small amounts).

The 5th bead in the pic above was made using it.
I hope that helps and you find some, it's a fab colour what ever it is, and they're lovely beads! ;D ;D ;D

Pretty flower beads Anna :)
:) Thanks! :)
Ahh your right the Lauscha does really closely resemble it too I will bear this in mind, fingers crossed for loads of Vetro and Lauscha available at Flame Off... have promised myself no more orders until then!!!
Lets face it though, not gonna happen! ::)
I'm sure someone on here was looking into stocking lauscha glass soon, so that may be ok for you!
I am, but I didn't get the turquoise this time round!
(The glass is here, btw, I'm just trying to get stock control working on my website and everything washed, weighed and labelled... It's taking a while!)
Quick, quick, while I've still got some cash!
Helen, I love the look of those beads.
Hehehe! I always say that too Anna, but then my finger slips! :D ;D ;)
Ooo a new Lauscha supplier, fab! ;D
Thanks Pat, I am rather fond of bright colours. ;D
