I am new to all this but here goes. I started lampworking in April this year, and like everyone else am hooked.
I like experimenting and thought I would try using up some of my 1000s of seed beads in my lampwork ones. So, what I did was to warm some a little, put them on the molten bead and melt them in to the basic bead as a means of decorating it.
Some colours work better than others and some burn. Some even give a plunged dot bead effect (when placed carefully and heated correctly they leave an air bubble at their base, the colour pigment goes to the bottom of the bead and they have a transluscent layer over the top)!
I have annealed the beads I have made like this in my Kilncare Beadcube with no problems.
Thought I would check out if anyone else has done this - or have I found a new technique!!!!!!!

Seed beads are not something that I have used as inclusions in lampwork before, would love to see some pics

hmm sounds interesting, have never tried it myself. arent there compatability issues with the unknown seed bead coe? might give it a bash though
I had thought of doing this but was warned off because of incompatibility - it's great to hear that you've done it successfully! :D

I have a huge stash of seed beads too (but am using some in a 'budget' range of stuff I am making using polymer clay beads), would love to see photos too. :)

Will try and get some pics up - am embarassed to say will need support of my children to do so!!
Will also need to charge battery on sadly neglected digital camera.
Most importantly, will have to overcome embarassment at putting pics of my amateur beads on show!

I'd think that as long as you don't put too many seed beads on the lampie, it'd be just like putting Val Cox 96 COE frit on a 104 COE base bead.

I know what you mean, I still haven't been brave enough to put up my efforts yet! Mind you, I can't work out which one of the many many wires in the drawer belong to the camera/mobile phone, so it could be some time .... :D

I saw some beads recently that looked like hollows with seed beads rattling round inside. They looked really nice, but I didn't know if it was a feasible idea. I can't get to my torch for a few more weeks, but wondered if anyone had tried it?
Hmm think I saw somewhere a hollow type bead with smaller beads in it made to look like a bubblegum machine
I have put seedies inside hollows, with a wire wrap that covers the hole they're in there for good.

Tink makes those!!! ;D she is great haven't seen her around lately though on any forum :(- this is a bit different though as you are adding them to a finished piece of glass art.
