I thought it would be good to have a section for working tricks/"it worked for me" for boro colours - there is a lot of great working information on individual manufacturer's websites, but sometimes this falls short and working on different amounts of oxygen/different torches can produce very different results.
I'm hoping that over time this thread will become a reference for those tricky colours/odd combinations/low-oxygen situations - I'll try and keep on top of it and compile a running list with headings per manufacturer if we get enough tricks.
So, here's my first - TAG Purple Sable - gorgeous, gorgeous glass but I find it works much better if I pretend it isn't an amber purple at all... use it, cool slightly and bathe in a nice reducing flame, then either work a bit more and repeat or just repeat if necessary - either way, for me, it is the bathing in a reduction flame at some point towards the end of the making that pulls out all those blues and purples. Too much reduction will make the colour go mucky, but it definitely needs some!
And my next - TAG Elvis - favourite red, but for me, it needs a layer (or a dot, if you are just doing dots) of clear between it and any amber/purple glass. Otherwise the amber/purple glass will go stringy yellow.

I just don't know where to start with boro.
This is going to be such a useful thread. Boro's a bit like the girl with the curl - when it's good it's very, very good, when it's bad it's horrid :o
I read in Glass Alchemy notes about using Kyptonite (great transparent light green glass, looks like it should be glowing :D ) and putting a layer over blue silver glass for a different effect.
I tried it over some indigo luster that had been reduced to bring up some nice metalic colours and it does make an interesting effect, making the blues look alot lighter. I also found it works really nice over Unobtainium! It gives that nice pearlised effect that unobtainium has, but in a lighter more turquoisy blue. I've not really done alot big enough to get a good picture of though, but thought I'd mention it for anyone who has some and wants to try it out.
