I have read loads of posts from people having problems with silver glass... so I know I just need to keep trying and be patient but it's getting soooo frustrating now!
I bought a batch of the effetre silver black after having appalling results with my double helix... and was really pleased with how I got on so had a stab at Aion 2
quote lol 'This well balanced formula is easy to strike and hard to mess up'
And yes it worked and my bead was tremendous!
But do you think I can get it to work again ::)
I tried using a slightly reducing flame, a more reducing flame and just plain propane and have tried the glass in all parts of the flames too but I just cant seem to get there again.
Does anybody have any words of encouragement for me :D
Can I 'wear out' the coulor by repeated heating and cooling? Maybe I'm trying the wrong type of flame first, I didn't even think about what I was doing on the occasion that it worked doh
I don't know about Aion, not used that particular one, but generally for reducing the trick is to get the bead really cool first - check it under your table to make sure there's no glow at all, you want it to be as cool as you dare. Then adjust your flame (down with the oxy or up with the propane) and waft the bead in the flame - but make very sure not to get it hot again. If it glows at all you will spoil the effect.
With some silver glasses, you can reheat, re-cool and re-waft - but not all of them (I can never rescue Triton if I mess it up, but I can rescue Aurae).

do any of us? :)
Ahhh brilliant thanks, I haven't heard that before about using a cool bead... can't wait to get home now and try again
I'm no expert on Silver Glass, but I would recommend trying some Reichenbach Silver Brown. Its cheap, easy to use and does what other silver glasses do (but obviously all with different colour effects), and its cheap enough to waste getting the hang of the silver glass basics without wasting your expensive stash. I sell it, and I think probably Off Mandrel too and many other people, so its readily available and in good supply. I can't see much difference between SB and SB dark so choose whichever you fance - and have guilt free fun. ;)
silver brown is a good choice - Martin has some too ;D
Thanks have just put a cheeky order in, found some silver brown instructions too that are quite detailed:

Looking forward to giving it a go ;D
