Just been having a go at lace beads and had no problems when using combos of ivory, periwinkle and light grey.
Decided to try with a green glass and there was no reaction so I have ended up with a relativel unattractive squiggle bead!
Does anyone know if there is a list anywhere which will steer me in the directions of which colours will produce the lace effect and which won't?
Thanks
Sandra
If there is one I would love to know too ;D ;D

Try Eff coral.......... yummmm
Antique (thats the green one not the sparkly one) from Reichenbach make a stunning background too.
It is trial and error I am afraid - rule of thumb is that the softer opaques *lace* more easily than the stiffer transparents -but there are exceptions to this rule too.
What Jo said - I must have literally made 1000s of these - as an example, Effetre grass green doesn't work, but somebody somewhere says 'green' in principle doesn't work (can't remember where), that's not true - Emerald does :)
dark lavender, clear work
I believe that transparent strikers such as reds, yellows & oranges don't work. I have tried sangre and it doesn't work.
Grass green does not work for me, but you can always encase the colour with clear! ...... must try emerald! ;)
*shakes head* Nope no luck with red for me either - tried every kind I could get my hands on! I had never thought of encasing then lacing Trudi - have you tried it?

it worked better on the top two beads!!
Those are pretty ;D
It's not the red, it's the CiM - CiM needs thicker stringer to lace :) Vetrofond Candy Apple laces nicely, but is quite dark, looks beautiful, though. Jungle-whatever-it's called is another green that laces. Don't think I've found a pink or purple that doesn't (though, again, thicker with CiM) :)
Oooh Candy Apple - not tried that one!
I honestly think I have tried them all, at least all the transparent ones, lol! ;D ;D ;D

I'll bet!
Are there different grass greens? Mine says M. grass 591022 and intense black laced OK over it, not nero (I think) just thin stringer pulled from the only rod of intense black I have.

Nero intenso is exactly the same as intense black (it just speaks Italian ;D ;D)
Hmmm.....got to check, mine was effetre grass green, I'm sure *scuttles* ;D
and so begins the great debate! ;D
Thanks for all the responses and pointers (not to mention the eye candy!) so far.
I think the big lesson for me as a relatively new lampworker is that it might be an idea to write all this stuff down as I do it!
I keep meaning to but...............
Trouble is I get so engrossed in the glass making that I never stop to think about recording what I'm doing - most of the time not a problem as I keep the materials out until I can see what the beads look like and record anything particularly nice but it's a bit of a problem if I am playing with a techniques and using unlabelled odds and sods up!
Thanks again
Sandra
You are so good ! I never record anything. Just sit down and see what happens sometimes bugger all sometimes yummy.
Perhaps I need a plan ?

-scuttles off to get my little lace experiments- i will point out that i wasnt using nero intenso, instead i used CIM Hades, i had fantastic results on CIM Larkspur and Oz and effetre med. blue, it didnt work on effetre dark turquoise though and i only tried it on one opaque, effetre lime green and i got a really interesting effect, it webbed but also got partially swallowed by the lime so it looks very organic! (i've been meaning to try it on more colours but not got round to it yet!) The best tip i can give anyone though is use VERY LITTLE of the black and it webs much better!
I have them in a hot oxidising flame, and I marver too!
