Title: kiln temp fluctuating
Post by: flowerjasper on July 28, 2010, 11:50:37 PM
i normally batch anneal, i make small beads and rarely get more than an hour or so at a time to make beads,
when i have put the kiln on and put the beads in as i have made them ( ie last sunday  when we had a gbuk meet)
i have notice the temp can fluctuate quite a lot,
i have it set to hold at 510, but find it gets up to 530-540 at times, no beads have been harmed !
just wondered if this is normal or is it because the door is a jar due to the mandrels,
the temp doesnt fluctuate if i batch anneal,

If it's a huge fluctuation, check if it's still clicking regularly - if not, the relay might be on it's way out. I'm on my third!! There's also a wire connection in the controller which can get loose - if the relay seems Ok, it's worth checking that.
