Title: Silver
Post by: dawn on April 20, 2010, 08:54:25 PM
I have been asked to make a pendant with a silver butterfly in between the glass.  I have made various pendants with butterflies in, but none that have been silver.  I have previously used dichro-slide in my other butterfly pendants but I cannot find any that is silver.   If I use silver foil will it turn a different colour?  Has anyone any ideas how I could get a silver butterfly.

Hope this makes sense.

You could use fine silver wire to make a butterfly shape - that will stay silver.

I haven't used the foil so don't know how that fires.

I've used the foil before, with heart shape cutouts and it works great.

Everytime I've used any fine silver though its turned white - don't know if thats just me.

You should be ok with silver foil. I've used paper cutters to cut shapes and sandwich between the layers of glass. If you put a piece of paper either side of the foil it's easier to get a good shape when cutting.
