Title: Beadpress pillow normal v ss
Post by: JaySpangles on March 14, 2010, 09:26:57 AM
I am thinking of buying a Beadpress Pillow Press but can't make up my mind between the normal one or the straight-sided one.
I can't really see what the difference is from the photos on the beadpress.nl site.

If anyone has any pics of finished beads from both or either type of press I would be obliged if you could put them up or give me a link to them so that I can see the difference in the finished articles to help stop me dithering.
Thanks in anticipation.

I think (think!) it's like the difference between a lentil and a ss lentil. In the pillow the tapered edges come to a point, in the ss one the tapered edge is blunt.

If Maria Louisa is going to Flame Off with some of her stock then perhaps you could email her to ask if she could bring one of each over for you to decide which you prefer. I'm having the same difficulty with a lentil and SS lentil - although I like the SS lentil press you have lent me I prefer the look of the normal lentils so I am now not sure which one I want!

Hi Janet,
Mary is completely right with her explanation.
Also the SS pillow makes a thicker bead than the normal one.
I will try to find some time to make examples with several presses but I know I won't have time to make them all. I'll do my best.
