Post by: Louise Menzies on March 04, 2010, 08:33:54 AM
Good Morning! :)

I went to apply my bead release last night but for some reason it has gone really thick and gooey; does anyone know why this is and if theres a way i can help it back to health?  :D

Add a tiny bit of water and mix well until you get the right consistency ...

HI lou ,

Just a couple f drops of water , then shake like mad . Its always better to start off little drops as its easier to add more but hard to get to o much water out .

Cheers ,

martin

Stick a couple of fugly beads in it - they help to break up lumps, and get the whole thing smooth - like the ball bearing in a paint can.

I use rainwater cos I'm too lazy to go back up to the house! I add a few drops every week, often more. Even when you screw the cap on well, it seems to evaporate quite readily.

I would like to add a warning here (unless you want the special badge) :

Make sure the lid is screwed on before you do the vigorous shaking  ;)

Screwing the lid down not only stops you pebbledashing the walls, it helps to stop evaporation.  Btw I use distilled water you use for car batteries as its what I have always used when I did enamelling - it has no impurities. Probably makes no difference - just a habit.
