I bought this at the flame off, it was quite expensive, and just can't get it to look nice! :-[
It looks ok when worked, whitish grey variations, but comes out of the kiln a not very pleasing tan/yellow colour with darker oil slick patches.
Does any one know if it is suppose to retains the silver grey colour, or what colour it is suppose to come out?
Thanks if you can enlighten me! ;D
Mine comes out the streaky tan/brown/grey but thats why I bought it. If you are looking for a grey with variations, try Effetre Lace Agate or Sediment.
Thanks Kay, thought I was doing something wrong! :-[
If you dont like it Sue I can swap you for some other stuff for it.
Are you coming to the flame off? I have most of a rod left you can have - Mine keeps coming out with horrible yellow patches, like duck poo
Try it with Psyche over it........... ;D
I've not used it, but I'm sure I read somewhere that it's a pretty good base for reactive glass. Perhaps play with silver?
Have a look at this weeks S&T. I've pisted 2 shells with sea slug things on them....the bottom one is Canyon De Chelly with a bit of grey streaked in. I love Canyon.....but why is it so damned expensive now?

I made these yesterday - the middle one is Canyon de Shelley.

I am really pleased with the resulting colour - especially when encased. The pic doesn't do it justice really. I had tried it before with a couple of plain beads in a colour test and it was really dull and fuddy but I have found that it is a colour that can really easily be enhanced to "pop" whereas its pretty much nothing to shout about on its own.
Thanks to everyone for the good advice, sorry I haven't been on for a while - too busy! ::)
Not coming to the flame off this year I'm afraid., but thank you for the offer of a swop anyway! ;D)
Did eventually make a set with Canyon de Chelly, which sold, and they weren't half bad, I'll find a photo!

Spanna what are the colours of the other 2 beads?
I have a rod of canyon de chelly, may have to get round to trying it!
