Title: Gaffer Clear
Post by: Ilona on October 17, 2009, 06:11:13 PM
I have bought some Gaffer clear to use with my frits, and have been surprised how scummy and bubbly it is. Is this normal for Gaffer clear or have I been unlucky? I was hoping to use it for encasing, but no chance with this.

I am now thinking of the system 96, but am not sure who sells it.
Can anyone tell me what this is like?

The gaffer I have here is pretty scummy, not sure if it normal or not with Gaffer but the rods I have tried are scratched all the way along them and so I think that makes the scumming worse.

If you don't mind ordering from the States, I got Uroboros 96coe glass from Howaco glass, they sell it by the rod if you want, and it is very nice clear.

Gaffer is a blowing glass so its usually used under slightly different conditions and does tend to be a bit temperamental with a torch but Ive had some nice results working it very cool if that helps ?
