Title: hydroponics fan-what size
Post by: firedinglass on October 01, 2009, 01:20:07 AM
I'm setting up my new studio and haven't done anything yet about the ventilation..... i think i've decided on the hydroponics fan because it just seems simpler!  I thought i could just have the ducting and reducer set in front of me and then ducting and fan under the desk and out the wall through small hole with back plate (all gleaned from info here, thank goodness for frit happens :))  Cost is running away with me but i used to get headaches occassionally when working so  know this time round it's a must!  The thing is i'm not sure whether to go for the 4" or 6",  :-\,do any of you have 4" and think it's enough?  I will be working with soft glass and 2 oxycons, i hardly ever use silver glass. I would appreciate any advice.  Hope this makes sense it's getting very  late  and my eyes are going slightly crossed....nighty night :)

There is a calculation for working this out, it all depends on the size of your workspace, if you search this forum you will probably find it. I got my hubby to do this for me and then bought a slightly bigger fan to be on the safe side.

Good luck.

I got the 8" one with 8" ducting. Pointless in getting a big inch fan when you will just reduce the ducting inch IMO.

Big is best ;D

Have a look at the Progrow web site. They have discounted some fans. They are also extemely helpful on the phone.
