Title: How to recognise silver rich glass
Post by: JaySpangles on September 27, 2009, 09:33:17 PM
I have read lots of stuff about reducing and silver rich glass.
My understanding is that Double Helix glasses fall into this category but are other reactive glasses 'silver rich'?  How can I tell which glass colours will react to produce the wonderful effects that you bead genies achieve?

I have bought a couple of tuts (Anouk and Amy Kinsch) and am eager to have a go.
I don't have any DH yet but wondered if I might have anything in my stash that I could use in conjunction with any DH that I might buy. (I do have dark and light Ivory, and Opal Yellow.  Are these classed as silver rich?)

I initially bought a starter kit from Tuffnells and have bought some assorted other colours that just caught my fancy, but have no idea if any of it is reactive.

Thanks in advance.
J

For Amy's tut, try Reichenbach silver brown. Precision glass is mostly silver glass too (Off-Mandrel do it by the rod).

who what is amy's tut - I've not come across that before!

BTW - quite often black is good!!

DH Aurae is a very easy one to work with - and looks good both encased and un-encased!

By the way, Ivory is coloured by sulphur and will react with silver, opal yellow will strike to a blush colour, neither is silver rich. Silver colours are fairly new, to imitate boro colours.
