Title: Annealing larger beads
Post by: Trudi on September 16, 2009, 11:15:06 AM
Hi

I've been happily using my marble marver - and was going to try one of the bigger ones, but then I thought that I'd need to change my schedule!! Does anyone have a schedule for larger beads please?

Thanks

What shedule are you currently using? If you are holding at about 1hr at 520 (I assume it's normal glass) then that's always been fine for anything I've done.

I'll double check, I think I'm holding for about 40/45 mins ..........

I garage and anneal at 520 (annealing for 1 hour) and I make tons of large marbles - I frequently bounce them across my kitchen floor so I reckon they pass the test  ;D

so I just need to lenghten the anneal time - doesn't matter about the ramping?

cool!

No the ramping is the same - I sometimes do an hour and half soak for my larger lentils. But be careful about extending for too long if you're using a kiln striker.
