Hello, me again...
So I think I reduced this glass... have I done it right? I was hoping to get more purpley tones rather than the greens I got?
I made a barrel of Ivory, then covered that in the DH Psyche. Cooled the bead. Covered the holes on my hot head with foil to get a big yellow flame. Danced the bead in the yellow flame for about 4-5 mins, then returned to the normal flame, leaving the bead cool I then encased it in a clear spiral.
Would really like to know your thoughts as I still can't get any another silver glass to work for me. well... (I did the same with nyx and elektra but both got a horrible green colour when encased)

You're doing it right - sometimes yo do get greens from it too!!
I tend to get more blues than purples too when I encase it!
Oh Vickie they're lovely :o I get that too sometimes, in fact I rarely get the lovely purples I see other people getting. Well be warned you'll be hooked on silver glass now, is has a way of luring you in and getting you hooked, and at several times the price of most standard colours it hurts the piggy bank ;D
My one bit of advice for encasing DH reducers would be to melt your encasing in as cool as you can, if you overheat the encasing you are likely to loos all the iridescent MOP effect, you'll still get a nice effect but not a sparkly shiny one ;D I find this particularly with aurae, it goes creamy matt colour underneath the encasing and sometimes has a blue hue if you overheat it. I keep a close eye on what's happening underneath the encasing and if I see the MOP effect going off a bit I take the bead out of the flame, let it cool a little and start again, sometimes it can take me ages with big beads. I don't know what other people have found I guess everyone finds their own way of making it work but this works for me. I also try to get the clear on the bead as runny and hot as possible so I can get it melted in more easily without heating the whole bead if you get me :)

I agree with Kate, I was encasing some triton beads earlier, and doing it too hot, so I think I lost the MOP effect..
I do get purples, I think with just a couple of quick wafts in the flame, I guess the greens are coming after further reduction. I think probably try not covering the holes completely, as on my minor I only turn the oxy partially off so there's a short bit of yellow - and try just bringing the bead up from under the flame and into it very briefly (not right by the torch head but a little higher), do this several times and see if you get the silvery look that way (long time since I was on my hothead now, so please ignore if this doesn't work for you!)
However.. I would be so thrilled to get lovely beads like yours, I wouldn't worry about the purples!
ps - I can't do nyx and electra.. not on my hothead or minor! No idea why.. not fond of luna either, but I love gaia, triton, psyche and aurae..

I have used all my psyche :( but I'm gunna have another go with another one I have trying what you have suggested, will keep everyone up to date, would really like to be able get a purple tone from one of these glasses. I got Silver Brown the other days... but absolutely NO luck with that one- lol! its hard this silver glass malarkey ain't it! :D xxx

aw thank you, thats such a nice thing to say :-) I guess because I wanted deep blue and purples and then got this I'm a little disheartened... but everyone been so nice about them that I'm starting to like them... every my dad stopped to look at them... i'm tell you this is a big thing!!! hehe x
I think they are lovely, and a great shape too.
Try experimenting with different base colours and see what difference that makes to the colours you get :)
