I've never tried it, what is it about it that makes it better than effetre, do tell, I've often been tempted to buy but I've been happy with effetre and always get put off by the price of laucha....coz I'm tight  ;D

Well Kate, If you can work well with Effetre I wouldn't spend your money!

Effetre can be variable in it's quality - depending on what batch you have, although it has to be said that Effetre is much cheaper.

I went through several batches of truly horrible Effetre. I like to encase but kept getting scum on the stuff I was using. Scum is usually a mass of very very small bubbles which appears as a white patch (a bit like, um, spit) and if you don't want to end up with it on your beads you have to keep pulling it off. I also had a batch that just kept bubbling, but Lauscha is like the Rolls Royce of clears. It's practically impossible to burn or scum and is a joy to use.

There can be some compatibility issues with Lauscha clear though - although it is 104 there are some colours it really doesn't like. I sometimes have trouble with pinks and definitely it doesn't like DH Pandora. It will also turn encased silver yellow - Effetre is much less reactive so in fact Effetre is often a better choice for silver/silver glass anyway.

Like I said - if you can get on well with Effetre there's no need to look for anything else!

I've got half a kilo of a really pants batch of effetre here that I can't do anything with.  Will it affect the quality of a bead if I use it as a base and cover it with an opaque glass does anyone know?

Me and my little hothead are a-lovin lauscha clear but I am now skint!!
BUT...................I have non-scummy beads YAY!!!!!

i love lausha and bullseye clear is fab. i have a really crap batch of effetre which i used some pf yesterday and made a bunch of encased beads. Really bad scumming but I am about to etch them to see if that makes them better to look at!!

You can use the grotty effetre without a problem. It's not going to affect the quality of the beads - the scumming is just an aethestic thing.

Mee too. And yes it's cheaper than Lauscha.  :)

Thanks for info Sal  :) I'm very tempted to try it.

I always use the crappy stuff to make base beads, I had a bad 1/2 kilo a while back, that's when I swapped to 006.
