Hi.
I have a sparkley gold rod, do you use this like any other? Or do you have to use it in a special way?
It is glittery in the middle, and clear encased.
And will it go mucky coloured using a HH?
Thank you

Sounds like goldstone, warm it really slowly, and I usually pull it into thick stringer as it's too thick like that.. should be fine on the HH.
If it's a rod then they call it filigrana and the gold sparkles will be from "goldstone" a.k.a aventurine. I have a blue aventurine filigrana rod that I've tried a couple of times. You will use it more or less like any other glass but you'll want to melt it onto the mandrel in an even and controlled way to get a nice effect. In Passing the Flame, Corina shows how to make a heart shaped bead with a filigrana core.
Whether it goes mucky on a HH depends upon how your HH feels today I think - I've had varying success with transparent glass - and usually varying towards failure or at least streaks of soot.
Give it a go and show us your results.
As Turned Light advised - you will need to warm it slowly - when you have encased rods like this they can tend to be a little shocky - but you can overcome this by warming it gently and slowly!
goldstone can add a nice sparkle to beads
Not sure if you can see it in these - but there is a little swirl inside these - then encased which magnifies the effect!
