Title: ASK colours - tips n tricks?
Post by: Lush! on March 12, 2009, 11:33:57 AM
Mostly thanks to FH'ers spring cleaning, I've not got my hands on a few ASK colours but as they're pretty much irreplaceable, I'm nervous about blowing them on experiments.

Anybody got any good hints and tips?  I'm thinking specifically Desert Chameleon, Caramel Apple, Silver Cinnamon, Lavender Fields and blue one (? name?).

Hi
Bahia Blue maybe .

My tip is ...clean them up , photograph them ... then list them on Ebay U.S and sit back for the bids to come rolling in.

That stuff is so rare .

Hmm, maybe I should have done that! ;D ;D
Julie, if the blue is from me it is Bahia blue. :)
I think both caramel apple and silver cinnamon are great with silver glasses, not sure what tricks the others do apart from being lovely glass.

Caramel apple and Silver cinnamon are definitely good with silver glass. Worth trying with silvered stringers too.

They're gathering dust in my porch Julie, but all single rods. I'll have a look later & see if there's any of the interesting colours there  ;)

Desert chameleon goes pearly in an oxidising flame, a bit like DSP, it's my favourite glass!

Oh, and Silver Cinnamon reduces for a lovely lustre, especially with silver glass.

Are Kugler not carrying on the range then, is it gone completely forever? I did wonder if Kugler would just carry on with the same recipes and rename it :(

I think the Kugler beadmaking 104 series are broadly similar, if not exactly the same, as the ASK 104 glasses, so it is possible to make rough correlations between, say, Kugler light Sandbrown and Ask Morocan Swirl.

Either way, the Ask glass was fab, and some of the Kugler glasses are pretty nice too :)
