Title: richenbach magic 104
Post by: Izzybeads on March 02, 2009, 10:00:57 PM
help >:( :( ??? what am I doing wrong??  my encasing isn't  the best in the world, but, I get the lovely colours, heat to white hot, take out of flame, blow on it, look slightly loopy to an outsider, talk nicely to it, watch the bead turn black - extensive research has told me this is normal - encase using the wrap around method with dots either side because I am pants at encasing, place in hot, but just right, kiln, and pray.  Drink wine, say more prayers, dream of perfection, dash out to kiln in the morning and look at broken bead.  Perfect pink and purple colours from the Magic but the encasing cracks,  please......help!

I haven't used magic so I don't know but could it be a compatability with the clear you are using.

Silly question, but is it definately Magic rather than Iris Orange in the lower coe? Any chance they could have been mixed up?

definately Magic (I double checked!!) I only have two rods of Iris orange, which I have never managed a decent bead with anyway!!  I am using Vetrofond clear as I always get 'scum' on effetre clear.......I will try with the effetre, being such a dummy I never even thought about incompatibility, Magic makes such lovely colours I just want one bead!

I have never encased with magic. You can bring the colours out with repeated striking and marvering with  brass tools.

Reichenbach has a lovely COE 104 clear glass. If you keep having problems, maybe try this one with the Magic?
