Hello all you out there,
After cruising the forum for so long, finally think I have something to share!
I love dirty martini....and recently put some DH silver glass dots on it (fairly sure it was Triton), which I then cased. The base of dirty martini turned a really subtle, and pretty, hue of slightly iridescent PINK!
Has anyone else had any effects with DM. I have never fumed a bead (but will learn to one day!), but I'm thinking that silver fumed DM may bring out the same effect? The pink, pale green and silvery blue/green combo on the bead I made was not a particularly balanced mix of colours, however I'm going to work on this a bit methinks.
Hi Mel, welcome to the forum! :)
I haven't tried this, but it does sound interesting! Can we see pics?
I'll try. Probably wont have time tonight though.
Wow, how interesting! I'm sorry, you'll have to post pics now!! ;D
And Mel, welcome to FHF!
Hi ya Mel and welcome.
That sound like a really interesting reaction
Hi Mel, nice to 'meet' you. I know what you mean about cruising this forum -so much to learn and
so much gorgeousness and such nice people! How long have you been lampworking? Be nice to see
your beads.

Hello there - can't wait to see the pics!!!
Thanks for your warm welcome and yikes, lets see if I can attach a piccie. I tried photographing it indoors, and outdoors to capture the pink, but it has hardly done it at all. It is like the apricot that you get with ivory and DH, except that over the top, there is an oily sheen of pink, my other half says it reminds him of opals.
Ho hum, pressed the insert image button, and not a great deal happened. Will have to go and forage for numpty instructions somewhere.
Welcome!
I tried triton frit+dirty martini today but it just went a sort of coppery brown - any tips?
Not yettaways. I'll give it another whirl next session and see what happens. My usual routine is to use quite a strong reduction flame to bring out the reduction colours, then turn up the oxygen, but still keep it as a reduction flame while I blob on some clear and then warm whole bead in this flame with the central propane candle sitting at about 1.5 inches before putting in kiln. I had a go the other day with DH elektra and Giaia, but not the same. I cant get much joy out of Elektra anyway, so wasnt surprised.
