I use the bit at the bottom of the first post where it sets the first ramp at 700 instead of full. Works fine for me.

Which tut have you got, Sandy? Is it the new Mary Lockwood one?

I ramp up at about 700 (going at full on my sc2 always leads to a fail message!) Then garage at 520, then hold for half an hour to an hour after the last bead, and skip segment and ramp down.
(Ammended to correct temperature!)

Then garage at 220,
Did you mean 520 C ? I ramp up at full and don't get a fail message. Garage at 520, soak for an hour after the last bead was put in then skip segment and ramp down. With bigger beads such as flowers that don't fit through the bead door, I open the door quickly, deposit the flower and shut quickly too. I do use my kiln gloves when doing this and find that the kiln loses very little heat. It's back to 520 after a few seconds.

ran the program today, all went well untill i wanted to skip what was left of the hold and ramp down when i had finished,
the program says press the up button twice, i assumed this was the red arrow   am i being blonde??
in the end i let them soak for hour and half them  stopped the program.allowing the kiln to cool.
there were no beads of national importance in the kiln ;), which button should i press twice?
sandy .

I remember being confused by this as well Sandy, pressing the "up" button twice didn't work for me either. I skip the rest of the hold section by pressing the up button ONCE, then START, then START again & it will go to the anneal part of the schedule. I don't remember how I found out about this as it was a long time ago, but it should work for you hopefully  ;)

Thanks for that Carol, and there was me thinking it was something wrong with my kiln ::) as I had the same problem of not being able to skip to next segment, I ended up reprogramming on the fly :o

That's exactly it, Carol. I think where it's confusing is if you don't hit the start button quickly enough it carries on from where it got to rather than skipping. The other thing that is useful is how to add time on.

Yep it's up and then start - start it's in my manual. I have it open at that page as I have to check every time!! LOL by now I should remember!

Mmm curious - mine says press the up arrow twice and that definitely doesn't work ???
I'm thinking there must be a revised and corrected set of instructions

Hi, just to butt in - the confusion in how to skip a segment stems from the fact that it's different on the old 3.0 controllers and the newer models.

Sentry Express 3.0: Press UP button twice.

Sentry Express 4.0: Press the UP arrow (SStP will appear), then press START.

I believe the reason for the difference is that on the 4.0 controller they have added quite a few new useful features as compared to the older model, and they have to find a way to program them. Other things you can do on a newer model is to add hold-time (which I would have found very useful), change the target temperature, set the alarm, and adjust the thermocouple offset.
