Hello Again.
I would like to begin lampworking, however I live in a second floor flat, so I don't have a garden. My flat is quite big so I do have room to set up studio space, but I've heard that ventilation can become some what of a problem. I have no choice but to have an indoor work space. How can I set up? and what other problems can occur?

There are others on here who work indoors and ventilation can be a problem particularly in confined areas (don't let this put you off there is always a solution).
Fire is also a possible risk but this is not to scare you just to make you aware so that you take adequate precautions-floor coverings/work top material/fire extinguisher/fire escape. Its really about risk assessment and health and safety. You could have some type of internal extraction that draws fumes away from your work surface so nothing is impossible.
Have a read on some of the treads as I am pretty sure this has been covered previously and see if you can get some further guidence.

I know, I really don't want to get put off. I'm sure I'll work around it. I so wish I had a garden haha. Maybe one day eh.
The positive side is you don't need to go out when its raining, and freezing in the winter and boiling hot in the summer. There will be many advantages to being inside. Depends if your a glass is half full or half empty kind of girl ;D
Well i would say that i'm a glass half full type of girl but many might disagree lol
Could you set up a bit of a work bench ontop of your cooker under a cooker hood if you have one. This is what I do at parties when I am demonstrating making beads.
Hey katie! Nope i don't have one of those either ???. It would have been perfect to, I have quite a large kitchen. the only thing i could think ofis to set u in my living room, I have bay windows so i could keep them open, would that be enough ventilation?
the problem I had with open doors or windows was the draft coming in & blowing the flame onto my hand....there was some pretty colourful language in my shed before I got ventilation ::) you'll need some kind of carbon monoxide detector or you'll never know :)
Well there is a gas shop right beside my house so i could probs get a detector from there. I'll need to work something out for ventilation.
