Title: Torch choices
Post by: Claree on February 24, 2012, 02:58:59 PM
Hi, I'm new to lampworking, I've not brought anything yet. I've been looking for a while but flitting between choices of torches. I've had some lessons in the USA and used a carlisle torch. I think I was put on there as it has a large flame and I know I want to make large beads. Most people seem to start with a HH, can anyone compare the two? Or a advise on a good torch for large beads?
Thank you x

Hi Claree welcome to the forum.

Where are you based.  If you are in the UK then you might like to consider going to Flame off in April as there will be lots of different torches set up there and you can try them all out.

A lot of people start with the HH as the set up costs are cheaper, you dont need the oxygcon.

Hi, I'm in Leicester. I've just looked flame off. Looks ideal to have a play/spend. Just wish it was tomorrow  ;) to inpatient! Thanks for the tip.

If you are in Leicester go have a word with Di East and have a look at her fab studio. I believe she is the best in the business!
