Title: "Silver" Silver glass?
Post by: Cecilia on October 25, 2012, 12:24:29 PM
Hi, has anyone got any ideas if there is any glass that when reduced (on white) that would give a silver effect?

I have tried Helios - lovely gold
Notos - pretty similar to helios
Triton - to dark underneath

Any suggestions?
Thanks

Might a silver content discolour the white base bead, Cecilia?

Just had a thought.

Do you have any TAG Taxco there?

you might want to try Aurae?

Hi Linda.
Yes the base bead does yellow but I can isolate with clear which helps.
I will have to try aurae - I had discounted it because it is pinky but that may be better than yellow.
Haven't got any TAG at all and I need to get these done, I haven't got the time to buy some and practice.

I think I will try the aurae and if not have to stick to some silver foil under clear.

Thanks

I think you can get in either 96 or 94 but you'd then need compatible glass which it's getting easier to get hold of

Want me to cut a rod in two and send the halves to you now?

I've seen a glossy silver to Taxco (heavily reduced)

if you encase the white you wont get the yellowing,
what sort of design are you aiming for?
a white core encased and swirled dots of triton ( or helios)  then reduced would look fab ( in my head any way  ;D)
sandy

Its for rose buds - I have a customer who would like white and silver rose buds. I have put silver leaf around the bud but I was trying to do silver sepals...

I will keep trying but she wants them by mid november in U.S which limits the time to play!

Sounds good in my head too - I am a bit rose budded out at the moment. I am longing to make something else! Shouldn't complain though  :)
