I wonder if you can help.. what 'size' blades do i need for my jewellers saw to cut copper with please?

It really depends on the gauge of the copper. If you want a real general purpose blade, a 2/0 is a pretty good bet, especially as you're getting used to piercing!

This is a useful chart, but does use US measurements
