Does anyone know how to list an item with 'options' in Ebay?

I have in the past bought things where I can select a colour, or a size etc from a drop down box next to the picture, just under the heading.

I have tried to figure it out - but ended up with two drop down boxes that offered nothing at all to my customer.

I have looked in vain on Ebay.  I have tried live chat on Ebay but gave up after 20 mins of Kevin telling me he was still looking into this.  I have rung them and gave up after 25 mins of Anne saying 'This is the thing' at the beginning of every sentence and not actually telling me how to do it.  Not sure that they even understood what I wanted to do Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry

What I need is a step by step guide to list an item with two purchasing option - one to buy the knitting pattern as a printed document, the other to buy the knitting pattern as a file on a CD.  Simple drop down box - click on one or the other, then commit to buy.

Is it really that hard?

I would also be interested how to do this.

I would like to list my BHB without cores, with an option to silver core the bead as an extra, so the winner of the bead could have the core inserted without having to message me and ask.

Hi Terri,

I am assuming you want to list with variations, if so this is what you do.

When you start your listing after selecting your category a box will come up asking if you want to list with variations. Click yes.
click add your own variations
A box will appear - add the name of your option - example  - Shoe Size
Underneath this box type your other option - example - 7
Press the + sign to add further options, then click continue.
Click all details as required to the rest of the listing
another box will come up asking you to create variation - I just press - create variations box & continue
You can add individual pics and prices as required.
I hope this helps.

Shout if you need help Smiley

Does 'variations' give the option to vary the price depending on the 'variation'?  I thought it was one price but lots of size/colours; although I might be wrong.

Yes, you can list for instances different sized items with different pics / colours with different stock and prices.

But I think you get charged for each variation - I tried listing something with this last free listing day and ended up with a 40p charge for the additional variations; it was easier for me to list as 3 seperate items, but obviously that's no good if you want to sell one bead with options.

I use a business account and only use one price and it only costs 10p no matter how many items are listed, but a final value fee charged for each item that sells.

It may cost more if each is a different price. Knowing ebay they will charge more.

Thank you so much Grin Grin Grin Grin

Shame Ebay couldn't be so helpful.

I have a business account as well.  I guess that Ebay figure that only business account sellers would need options.  To be honest - aside from free listing weekends which I don't get anymore - it has worked out cheaper or at least no more expensive to have the business account and the basic shop front than it did when I used a private account for may patterns.  The shop front gives you extra stuff and a decent dasbboard as well.  Makes it a whole lot easier to manage the sales.
