Your Show & Tell board - A place to share your knowledge and experience.

Have you made a cool discovery?
Got that tricky technique well and truly sorted out?
Finally cracked the secret of some temperamental glass?
Got a new press?
Do you make your own tools?

Show & Tell is currently undergoing a makeover and a relaunch – we are bringing back the emphasis on the Telling alongside the Showing in this area of the forum to build a fabulous Frit Happens storehouse of lampworking information. Please bear with us in the short time whilst changes are being implemented to your Show & Tell Board, these changes are currently a work in progress.

Please do not treat the Show and Tell board as a place to advertise things for sale.....the For Sale !! board is the perfect place for that.

Thanks x

Im still quite confused about the new system ..i.e. Show and Tell / Gallery.  Not long ago us newbies were encouraged to put our offerings on the (then) Show and Tell page, and the newbie Show and Tell lapsed.  If the Gallery is to become a showcase of the best and most inspirational work of FHF members, us newbies perhaps should not be showing our work there.  If the Show and Tell thread is to be a collection of information and new discoveries by experienced lampwporkers, newbies have no place there.  Some of us (well me anyway,) who are getting to an intermediate stage are feeling a bit reticent about putting anything on at all, on any of the three sites mentioned.   I have noticed that the current Gallery page is quite short compared to recent weeks so I assume that I'm not the only one who'se wondering quite where I fit in!

Can anyone give a clearer idea of where to post my pictures?   I still value the feedback I get from showing them as well as the praise and encouragment that other members give.  Pris

Hi Pris, please don't feel discouraged from posting!!!! Both new threads are for *everybody* - we just felt that the 'tell' bit was misleading, because there was way more showing than telling involved. So, the gallery is for showing *your* best work, whether that's the first bead with puckers, the first glimmer of reaction from silver glass, the first wonky 'thing-on-a-stick', the 'ooooooh, look, I made 200 seaside beads, don't they look fab all in a big pile'. It isn't trying to make any rulings or judgement on 'best of FHF'!!

Similarly, the 'Tell' is about any telling - a colour reaction that you discovered, a new way you got particularly neat ends on a bead, a way you reduced a glass to get a special reaction.....essentially, I think, think of the 'gallery' as 'loooook!' and the S'n'T as 'look & learn' - does that make sense?  Smiley

Pris, and of course everyone else who is wondering the same thing too, please do not feel discouraged from posting, the Gallery and the Show & Tell areas on FH are for everyone.

Thank you for posting your reply Sabine, you have explained it so much more clearly than I have been able to so far.

I think Paula started a sort of daily inspiration thread, full of cool photos and stuff. (Thanks Paula!!) Would S&T be a good place to start a new one? Because I'd like to start a new one and I'm not sure where to put it?

I'd love a new Daily inspiration thread. I sometimes find some lovely pictures and think "Oh! This would be perfect inspiration to share!"
It's just too much work finding one every day  Undecided

I wonder if maybe a few people could do that and take a day or two a week each?
