Palmers have lots of fine silver findings for metal clay artists.

Or make your own from a piece of fine silver wire. Harden, trim, round the end and notch with the tips of round nosed pliers after firing.

They will still be very soft though - I would be inclined to solder sterling posts to the finished piece instead.

Yep I agree for studs sterling would be better. If you aren't sure about soldering let me know if you have a kiln because you could depletion guild the sterling posts then attach them with paste. I'm happy to write out the process but will do it when I'm back on my computer! Just another option!

Hi Pauline, I embed my fine silver posts into the clay before firing, then tumble them for several hours to harden the metal. Of late I've been soldering sterling posts on the back as they're cheaper then fine silver and stronger - once soldered I pickle the piece and then burnish and tumble. Check out this site, this is a very nice pair of earrings and the technique is simple to follow and extremely well written. Smiley http://pugetsoundmetalclay.com/fs_earring_posts.htm
