Title: new work, thunderbird
Post by: baked glass on April 21, 2017, 02:49:13 PM
I've been working on this little guy for awhile now. I grew up in the states and always felt an affinity for the world around me, so although I'm not affiliated with any tribe, I have tried to understand some of the Native American's stories and teachings.  There is always more to learn but I wanted to focus on one story that caught my attention and try to make a thunderbird.

I tried to make a flame like implosion for the base under the thunderbird.

The rain coming out of his wings was particularly tricky, each one wanted to melt away as I worked on the adjacent one.

Over all I think the idea worked out fairly well and will now be considering other stories to base sculptures on. (https://flic.kr/p/U1xNRU)

Looking good  :) I like the story element. I didn't know much about the thunderbird so googled it, and now I understand why my email program looks like it does!
