Title: ETSY payments
Post by: flame n fuse on April 13, 2017, 11:02:34 AM
Hi, I set up an etsy shop recently and have now received an email from them saying that I must set up 'etsy payments', or my 'selling privileges' will be suspended.
My limited experience of etsy so far is that although the website and shops look good, there are very few hits to my shop, that searches do not work well, that their categories do not suit lampwork and therefore I might be better off going elsewhere.

Would be interesting to hear your views. If I leave etsy, what would you recommend?
thanks

I have it se up - it's just another payment method - it works just fine and you can schedule deposits as you like. and have your paypal separate (I would recommend keeping separate!).

It's a new thing they have jsut announced that you have to have it (was called direct checkout)!

I'm not impressed. I dislike being forced into accepting payment methods not of my choosing, and I think it's been dealt with in a rather heavy-handed way. You can keep paypal separate, but if someone processes a multi-shop checkout, your paypal will go via etsy payments anyway. There's also no way to de-link paypal if you've agreed to it without realising, and it's very hard not to the way the forms are set up.

I'm sure it's just another way for etsy to make a bit of extra money.
